Camping is a great way to get active, enjoy nature, and spend time with family and friends. Many kids do not think of camping as being fun because they think that they will miss the television, radio, or their video games. This is not the case at all. Camping has a lot to offer if you are willing to give it a try. Just think – the animals, the streams and ponds, the wildflowers, the rocks, the plants, the insects, and the many sounds of the wild. The Grant Village Campground is located inside of the Yellowstone National Park. You can hike, climb, and explore in this amazing campground. You can also go through the park and see the Grand Geyser. It shoots boiling hot water 150 feet into the air. Other campgrounds, such as Glacier National Park, offer miles of hiking where you can learn more about the park’s unusual plants and animals. The park also gives boat cruises to campers interested in learning more about the park’s history, geology, and much more.
There are certain activities that you can do at any campground. At night, you can build a fire and tell spooky ghost stories to one another. If you or other people in your group are easily spooked, you could sing campfire songs and roast marshmallows. Some popular campfire songs are “If Your Ears Hang Low”, “Little Green Frog”, and “If You’re Happy and You Know It” – just to name a few.
During the day, you can go for a hike and try to find things for a scavenger hunt. If searching for items is not your idea of fun, you may enjoy fishing for the local fish in a stream, pond, or lake. Fishing can be very fun and relaxing. There are some campgrounds that will let you eat some of the fish that you catch. This can be a great way to try a fish that you have never had before.
Camping can be a great time to build relationships with friends or family members. There are some games that can be played that do not require any supplies. I Spy, I’m Going to the Store, and the Alphabet are all examples of games that are fun and will get everybody laughing. Other games can easily be brought in a sack or backpack. Cards, marbles, or any travel-sized game can be brought when camping to help keep fun and excitement alive, regardless of what is going on around the site.
Camping is what you make of it. If you are willing to take in all that Mother Nature has to offer and enjoy the company of your friends and family, you will surely have a great time camping at any campsite in America. Try something new on you next camping trip. Go hiking, kayaking, canoeing, rafting, or horseback riding. Take the time to explore your surroundings and take pictures of the new and interesting things you find along the way.
