Berkline

In 1972, Lane bought a small reclining chair company in Tupelo, Mississippi named Action Industries. Action Industries was founded in 1970 by Bo Bland and Mickey Holliman. Action sustained tremendous growth through gains in market share and product diversification over the next 20 years becoming a major force in the upholstered furniture industry. Today, the wood and upholstered divisions have become Lane Home Furnishings. Lane Furniture Industries is owned by Furniture Brands International which also owns other well known brand name companies... Broyhill, Thomasville, Drexel Heritage and Maitland Smith.

Lane furniture today is perfect for the Comfortably Eclectic and Thrifty Traditionalist. As the leader in upholstery furniture and home entertainment, Lane upholstery and entertainment products offer the ultimate in consumer comfort and convenience. Lane offers features like perfect pitch adjustment and zero gravity recline mechanisms, and optional power headrests, tablet style tables, in-arm storage, functional cup holders, and chaise-style reclining, all backed by a quality of product warranty. With all these features and more, Lane furniture has truly fulfilled the vision of comfortable quality innovative furniture which began in 1907 with John Edward, and Edward Hudson Lane.

Originally known as Standard Red Cedar Chest Company, Lane Furniture began as a father and son business venture. John Edward Lane, a railroad tycoon who founded the town of Altivista Virginia, invested 500 dollars into a packing box plant, giving his son the opportunity to build his own cedar chest crafting business.

In 1922, Lane officially adopted the family name, began an aggressive national advertising campaign, and launched a research and development program. With updated knowledge and relevant data gathered from these adventures, Lane created a sales force evolution moving away from typical commission based sales and developing a dedicated sales force. The effects of this allowed for broadened distribution and branding of the Lane company name and accounted for exponential success through the Great Depression.

Much was gained from experience and knowledge of the industry and the customer. Lane began to recognize the importance of creating an emotional bond between the consumer and the brand. Leveraging the power of celebrities, they launched a campaign that would propel the company into a successful case goods manufacturer of cedar chests, television cabinets, occasional tables, and accent pieces.

During 1967 to 1970, Lane Furniture acquired Hickory Chair, and reclining upholstery specialist Action Industries. They opened the Verona facility which specialized in producing recliners and purchased an additional development facility for manufacturing in-house reclining mechanisms.

In the 80’s, Lane merged with the well known Interco, who owned the popular name brands of Ethan Allen, Broyhill, London Fog, Converse, and Florsheim Shoes. With a $42 Million sales volume in place, Lane merged with the St Louis based Interco and opened the Saltillo factory which produced Recliners and Motion furniture and the Belden facility. Today, Lane is known for helping customers achieve their greatest desire for great style, casual comfort, all backed by prices that almost anyone can afford.

Item Description
The 103 Matinee  is a best selling frame packed with all the features and comfort our customers are seeking. This model offers a tall 44 inch seat back for full head support designed at a perfect angle to view the screen when partially and fully reclined. The footrest is " chaise style" meaning there is full leg support without that gap you typically find in most standard recliners. Each arm has a generous storage compartment to fit all your remote control and accessories. There are cupholders in each arm and a removable swivel tray table which fits into a metal slot in front of the cup holders.

The seat back and seat cushion are deeply padded to ensure complete comfort when watching a movie for hours on end. The seat width is extra large at 26 inches making this one of the most comfortable theater seats on the market. This model is upholstered in a black bonded leather just as shown in the images above. This leather will wear very well over time and excellent for families with pets and children.

Family loves them

"This was the best major online shopping purchase we ever made. Friendly helpful customer service. The chairs look expensive and exceeded our expectation. They are comfortable for short and tall people. The manual recline can be tricky at first. Storage space is plenty big enough. The trays are nice too. We can put these a short distance from the wall and recline with ease. Also, the seats are very soft and comfortable. We are really happy we purchased these chairs through this company. Will order from them again in the future. Made our theater room look very expensive and sharp!"

Saved a lot of $$

"I was in the market for a new sofa and one day I was inside Best Buy when I saw the Magnolia seats. I almost bought that same day but they were out of stock from the warehouse and were $2200. I was dissapointed but decided to do research when I got home and that's when I found out they were from TSS. After finding the Matinee on here, reading reviews and looking at the pictures, I decided that for over $1000 off, it'd be worth the risk to go with Bonded Leather. Ordered on a Wednesday night and they arrived exactly a week later! Fast shipping!! Easy to assemble. Took 5 mins at most for 3 seats. The quality is top notch on these "cheaper" seats. They look 2-3x the cost. The bonded leather is high quality and it looks like real leather to me. They are beyond comfortable and was able to watch an entire Lakers game last night on them and didn't want to leave my seat after the game was over. LOVE THESE. Do not hesitate to buy at all! You will not regret."

Great choice

"I ordered two rows of three for our media room at the beginning of Aug 2011. These are very popular and were on back order for six weeks. The Theater Seat Store sales guy was very helpful and up front. He did ask if I was going to build a platform and offered information on dimensions and materials; very nice. A few hiccups along the way; I was only suppose to put $200 down and then pay the balance on delivery (remember, back order for six weeks). Finance billed me the entire amount upfront. Sales guy was able to correct but they still insisted on billing me half up front when the invoice clearly stated $200. I let that go. OK, in September I was alerted that they charged the balance to my credit card. I contacted them to ask about delivery. It turns out, delivery means when the chairs are delivered to them, not me! OK, let that go. Got a “ship date” out of customer service; well, that did not happen. Called back, was told it would ship out by “Friday”, that didn’t happen. Called again, the CS agent was not very nice nor helpful; got hold of the sales guy who informed me that they moved and things were not settled yet (sorry, not my problem as they have my money-all of it). He came back with a different answer then the CS lady. When I asked why, he said because he got out of his chair and asked shipping (LOL). Well, his info wasn’t exactly correct as the items arrived in Houston earlier than he said it would. Shipper was great, delivery guy was professional (more than the CS lady, that is for sure!). Now for the product; the family LOVES them. They seemed a little firm at first, but i noticed they were very comfortable when watching movies. I have checked around, they are excellent, and at the price we paid it was a great deal. In summary, these are popular and you may have to wait so order early and work through your sales guy!"
