Winterthur Estate Lounge X Back Chair

The Winterthur Estate X back lounge chair is the version of the collection's lounge chair with a decorative aluminum X worked into the back panel, accented with aluminum finials. It brings a note of European formality to a terrace or a garden room, and it pairs naturally with the collection's swivel rocker in the same X back treatment.

Design and Construction

The frame is premium weather-resistant powder-coated aluminum with an aluminum seat deck beneath the cushion, so the structure is metal from top to bottom. The arm is cast aluminum shaped with an urn profile, a pedestal silhouette that tapers to a flat top, and the back panel carries the aluminum X decor with finials at the intersections. These are cast details, which is what allows the profile to hold its shape rather than reading as a bent tube. The frame is finished in Obsidian Black.

Comfort and Seating

The seat measures 24 inches wide and 21 inches deep at a 22 inch height, with the flat arm at 24 inches, in a 28 by 36 inch footprint. The 22 inch seat height is tall for outdoor lounge seating, which suits a more upright, formal posture and makes the chair easy to rise from. The arm sits only 2 inches above the seat and is slightly tapered and flat, so it works as a surface to set a hand or a glass on rather than as a high enclosing rail. Lane Venture's outdoor cushion supplies the comfort over the aluminum deck.
